Intravenous Therapy

What is Intravenous Therapy?

Intravenous therapy (IV) is a means by which a safe and effective dose of nutrients is given to a patient into their circulatory system, providing a route of administration that allows us to bypass the digestive tract thereby guaranteeing a more significant delivery of nutrients to the body. IV therapy quickly infuses nutrients into the body to achieve serum concentrations not obtainable with oral administration. When nutrients are injected intravenously, levels in the bloodstream temporarily rise so that nutrients are saturated into the cells and carried in to the mitochondria where they become active. This quick delivery boosts the cells to heal and produce energy more efficiently. Vitamins, minerals, homeopathic remedies, antioxidants and amino acids are put directly into the blood stream, guaranteeing maximum absorption and faster healing. IV therapy may be used as a preventive measure to support healthy aging, increase energy, boost the immune system, cleanse the body, improve sleep and create a greater sense of well-being.

What is a treatment like?

There are many treatment options for IV therapy depending on individual goals. Personalized formulations are prepared for each patient made specifically to address their health needs. The most common IV treatment therapy is known as the Meyer’s Cocktail. A Meyer’s Cocktail is a potent IV nutrient formulation containing a balanced combination of vitamins and minerals developed over 30 years ago by Dr. John Myer. Myer’s IVs are extremely helpful in treating a wide array of conditions to help the body recover from acute and chronic illness. Hydration IVs are another common therapy used to replenish electrolytes in the body due to dehydration related to acute illness (vomiting, sweating or diarrhea); depleted reserves related to a poor diet, toxin ingestion and extended athletic performance. Detoxification IVs are also a common form of IV therapy. They are a beneficial and effective way to help the body rid itself of excess toxins and support the liver’s cleansing pathways. Heavy metals are effectively removed from the body with detoxification IVs. IVs are administrated in a comfortable and soothing room, with the patient sitting in a lounge chair. IVs are infused slowly over 45 to 120 minutes. Patients vary in the number of treatments needed, but most require one infusion a week to treat a chronic illness. Some patients experience improvement after only one treatment, but the average number recommended is four infusions in one month. People with chronic conditions may need several IVs per week or periodically every few weeks to regain their vitality.

What can it treat?

IV therapy has documented benefits for treating a variety of acute and chronic conditions including recovery of energy after illness, detoxification and purification, dehydration, immune imbalances, improvement of athletic performance, digestive disorders, sleep disturbances, malnutrition, environmental allergies and auto-immune disease. Acute conditions treated include viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitical infections. Chronic conditions treated include chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, asthma, fibromyalgia, depression, fatigue, cardiovascular disease and seasonal allergies. IV therapy is a great delivery method used to successfully remove heavy metal toxicity from the body. Other added benefits of IV therapy include promoting tissue healing and reducing inflammation, thus it is recommended before and after surgery to speed up the healing process. IV therapy is a great adjunctive method recommended to speed up the healing process of all illnesses or simply used if you are feeling run down, jet lagged or dehydrated.
