Your water quality
You are not just what you eat; you are what you drink. This is why water is so important to your health. Water is the basis of all life and that includes your body. Your muscles that move your body are 75% water; your blood that transport nutrients is 82% water; your lungs that provide your oxygen are 90% water; your brain that is the control center of your body is 85% water; even your bones are 25% water. Your brain cells need twice as much energy as the other cells in your body and water is what supplies this energy. No wonder, then, that your brain functioning goes downhill so dramatically when you are dehydrated. When you are properly hydrated you have more energy, you think faster, and are more creative. It helps the body to regulate temperature. It helps to deliver important nutrients to the cells so that they can perform their necessary functions for keeping you healthy. It works to remove waste from those cells and then from the body. It also helps to protect your body. Without water your body does not function properly.
There are numerous benefits of water:
- • The right water controls the pH balance in the body. Low blood pH is linked to high blood pressure.
- • Water helps to keep you from overheating by maintaining a healthy body temperature.
- • Water helps to regulate metabolism.
- • Water helps the gastrointestinal process.
- • When you are properly hydrated, you are less likely to deal with headaches, heartburn, or constipation.
While water may be in teas and juices, it is in its pure form that it is most able to hydrate the body properly. That means that without drinking water, your body is unable to see many of these benefits. The need for water is a given. However, there is a big difference in the quality of water you drink. If you drink water that is highly acidic or it has high levels of contaminants in it, you are giving your body water that could harm cells and organ function. The best type of water to drink is alkaline water, which has the proper pH balance for your body. Alkaline water rids the body of acidic waste, thus decreasing the risk for degenerative disease. Most electrolyte water has a higher PH. Test your water’s PH to ensure that you are not drinking acidic water. Do not drink tap water as it contains many chemicals, chlorines and pesticides. Reverse osmosis is a good way to ensure a clean source of water yet it might be lacking minerals. You can simply add colloidal mineral drops to your water to ensure that you are drinking hydrating water and not simply plain water.
